Software engineer · Chicago

I build and ship complete software products by myself.

Shopify apps, full-stack web, and Flutter mobile for agencies and startups, built solo, end to end. Three apps on the Shopify App Store. I run WeLynk LLC, my one-person company.

Work

Built and maintained by one engineer.

Three embedded apps for small merchants on a chassis I wrote once: embedded auth, HMAC-verified webhooks, the GDPR handlers, billing, jobs, email. Shipped in five weeks, 5,875 automated tests between them.

Live

Cleartill

Profit after COGS, fees, shipping and ads. Not just revenue.

Merchants see revenue in Shopify but not what they keep. Cleartill subtracts COGS, payment fees, shipping and ad spend into one profit number, and fills missing product costs with a labeled, editable estimate so there is a number on day one.

Live on the Shopify App Store since July 2026 with a free tier and three paid plans. Money is integer cents and every estimate carries its provenance.

Live

Days of Cover

What to reorder, when, and how much. With the math shown.

Shopify retires Stocky on 31 August 2026 without replacing demand forecasting. Days of Cover ranks reorders by profit at risk instead of velocity, splits a cash budget across the urgent SKUs, bills last month's stockouts, and expands every suggestion to the arithmetic behind it.

Live on the Shopify App Store since August 2026, before the Stocky shutdown date, with a one-click import of Stocky CSV exports.

Live

StateWise

Sales tax nexus across every channel you sell on.

A seller on Shopify plus Amazon or Etsy has no affordable tool that adds the channels up, yet marketplace sales count toward the seller's own threshold in 28 of 48 jurisdictions. StateWise measures every channel against each state's economic nexus rule as it stood in that period.

Covers 48 jurisdictions with versioned rules, so a 2025 period is judged by the 2025 rule, and always shows two numbers side by side: total into the state, and what counts.

WeLynk

Eight minutes with someone new. Chat, calls, games, an AI companion.

A real-time social platform for adults: weekly eight-minute matches with profiles hidden, group chat, voice and video calls, multiplayer games inside the chat, a virtual economy, and a Gemini-powered companion that steps in when no human match exists.

I wrote the Python backend (18 domain APIs over 8 business and 3 infrastructure agents, PostgreSQL, Redis Cluster with atomic Lua), the Flutter app, the React web clients, the TypeScript game runtime, and the image-screening pipeline with PhotoDNA and NCMEC reporting.

Engineering

Glyph

A real-time 3D engine, written once in Rust, scripted in Luau, run on web, iOS and Android.

Server-authoritative, client-predicted simulation and rendering: Rapier3D physics, a wgpu PBR renderer, QUIC and WebTransport carrying the GlyphSync protocol, and a vendored Luau VM that runs untrusted game code in a sandbox.

The server ticks at 60 Hz; clients predict ahead and reconcile against 2 Hz checkpoints. 307,464 lines of Rust, 3,049 tests, a 50-chapter manual.

Private cycle tracking. Everything stays on your phone. No accounts.

A free, local-only cycle and symptom tracker in Flutter: encrypted on-device database, a deterministic pure-Dart engine, no servers, no analytics.

How I work with agencies

I work under your brand. Your client never hears from me, I use your project tools and your email, I sign your NDA, and your projects never appear in my public portfolio.

Written scope, a deposit before work starts, and a short written update every working day while it runs.

  • Fixed-scope build A written scope, a deposit, a date.
  • Overflow capacity by the week When a project lands and your team is already full.
  • Maintenance Keeping an app or integration alive after launch.

Rates depend on scope. Email me and I will send them within the hour.

Prefer to test the fit first? I offer a scoped paid pilot before any larger commitment.

Background

  1. Mar 2025 to present Alabama

WeLynk LLC · Founder and sole engineer

Shopify apps, a social platform, a 3D engine. Bootstrapped, no investors.

  2. Jul 2023 to Sep 2025 Huntsville, AL

    Boeing Defense · Software Engineer

Missile guidance software in Ada on a Green Hills RTOS. Built the unit-test framework my seven-engineer team adopted as its standard, and a documentation tool that turned a multi-week process into about thirty minutes.

  3. Mar to Jul 2023 Boston

    Raytheon · Software Engineer

Validated flight-critical software for a Navy surface combatant against a full ship simulator on target hardware; automated the regression runs.

  4. Summer 2022 Laurel, MD

Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory · Software Engineering Intern

    A license-key algorithm, and the root cause of a real-time data-processing failure.

  5. Dec 2022 Chicago

University of Illinois Chicago · BS, Computer Science

About

Omar Walweel

I'm Omar Walweel, a software engineer in Chicago. The thread through my work is real-time systems where correctness matters: two years of missile guidance software at Boeing Defense, then a social platform with live chat and calls, then an engine that has to keep client and server in agreement sixty times a second.

In 2025 I left Boeing to run WeLynk LLC full time. WeLynk LLC is the company; I am the whole team. Before that I built Nova, a content pipeline with a PyTorch classifier fine-tuned on a rented H100 that grew to about 90,000 followers across two accounts.
